Demolition begins at burnt cafe building
Dhoohimerige is a building where a large number of foreigners live.
Government on Tuesday started work to demolish the building of H. Dhoohimerige on Sosun Magu in capital Male due to a fire that broke out in the kitchen of Gaamagu Cafe on Monday.
According to Cities, Local Government and Public Works Minister Adam Shareef’s post in ‘X’:

The building is being demolished because it poses a danger to the public.

The demolition is expected to be completed within the next 3-4 days.
Dhoohimerige is a building where a large number of expatriate workers live. The Gaamagu Cafe, which caught fire, caters to expatriates.
No one was injured in the fire. However, two people were treated at ADK Hospital for smoke inhalation.
The Disaster Management Authority said 37 people were affected. These include:
