The Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) has appointed Ali Zuhair as the new Managing Director of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC).
Zuhair currently serves as the Managing Director of the Road Development Corporation (RDC). Prior to this role, he served in the Maldives National Defence Force for 30 years and held the position of Chairman at the Army Welfare Company, SIWEC.
Zuhair’s appointment follows the resignation of Mauroof Jameel, who stepped down from the HDC Managing Director post on Wednesday after announcing his intention to formally retire on the 18th of next month. It has been reported that Mauroof’s resignation came after a request from the PCB.
Mauroof had been appointed to the HDC post after the resignation of Ibrahim Fazul Rashid, who left amid allegations related to the allocation of land and residential units in Hulhumalé.
Mauroof previously served as Director General of the Hulhumalé Development Unit, which was involved in early development work in the area prior to the formation of HDC. He has also held roles at HDC, the Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC), and the Ministry of Construction and Public Infrastructure.
