Maldives sees high daily tourist arrivals in low season

The number of tourists coming to Maldives and their length of stay are also increasing.

After a decline in daily tourist arrivals during the low season, the number has started to increase again.

According to the statistics released by the tourism ministry, an average of 6,491 tourists arrived in the first week of August. This is the highest number recorded so far this year except for February.

The average daily tourist arrivals are:

  • This year, the highest number of tourists arrived in February; 7,496 tourists a day

  • The least number of tourists arrived in May; 3,867 tourists a day

The number of tourists coming to Maldives and their length of stay are also increasing. The figure rose to 7.9 days this month after falling to 7.2 days in June.

The government aims to attract 2 million tourists this year. As of the first week of August, 1.2 million tourists arrived in Maldives, achieving 61.4% of the target.
