Maldives adds 1 more island for resort development

The Ministry of Tourism has added Lhaanbugali in Raa atoll to the list of islands available for lease for resort development.

The Ministry of Tourism on Wednesday announced that it is opening proposals for the development of Lhaanbugali to the list of islands to be allocated for tourism.

  • The acquisition fee is USD 1.6 million

  • The island covers an area of ​​2.66 hectares

In addition, proposals have been received, and the lease arranged for the development of two islands and one lagoon out of the islands and lagoons opened for bid last May, the Ministry of Tourism said.

Leased islands and lagoon from the May list include:

  • Lh. Vihavaru Finolhu

  • A lagoon in Vaavu atoll

  • L. Hannhushi

Other islands opened for tourism development are:

    Sh. Kudalhaimendhoo - 13.11 hectares of land; USD 2 million

    Lh. Diffushi (with Lh Maidhoo) - 15.17+20.99 hectares of land; USD 18.6 million

    K. Himmiya lagoon  - 712 hectares; USD 23.5 million

    AA. Alikoirah. - 1.47 hectares; USD 1.3 million

    Th. Gaalee (with another island in the atoll) - 6.96+0.20 hectares of land; USD 2 million

    Th. Ruhthibira - 8.41 hectares; USD 2.4 million
