Police seek charges on driver in Samah's fatal accident
Samah sustained severe head and facial injuries in the accident and succumbed to his injuries shortly after being admitted to the hospital.
Police has requested the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) to prosecute Mohamed Wisam Siddiq in connection with the death of Hassan Samah, which occurred last month.
The incident took place near the Ooredoo office building close to Central Park in Hulhumale around 2 a.m. on September 6. Samah, 23, who was seriously injured in the accident, died later the same day while receiving treatment at Hulhumale Hospital.
In a message to the media on Tuesday, police confirmed that the request to file charges against Wisam, 26, was sent on Saturday. However, the charges against him were not disclosed.
Police also stated that Wisam from Addu Hithadhoo did not possess a valid driver's license at the time of the accident.
He has applied to the High Court to quash the arrest warrant.
