The Ministry of Education has released the academic calendar for 2025, with the new academic year scheduled to begin on April 6.
The adjustment follows steps taken by the government to realign the school calendar in accordance with President Mohamed Muizzu’s commitments.
The 2025 calendar outlines the following schedule:

The first term will run from April 6 to July 24.

The first term tests are set to take place from July 5 onward.

The second term will commence on August 10 and conclude in December.

The second term tests are scheduled from December 6 onward.
The major school break for 2025 will occur in December.
Starting from 2026, the academic year will shift to a January start. The 2026 academic year will begin on January 27, following a month-long holiday.
