The Zakat House of Maldives has provided humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza by delivering drinking water.
The aid was facilitated through the Qatar Red Crescent, a well-established international charity organisation.
Under this initiative, 6,000 cases of water have already been delivered to patients at Al Shifa and Al Hayat hospitals in Gaza. Furthermore, with the continuous support of the Zakat House, a total of 50,000 cases of water will be distributed to those in dire need, benefiting approximately 60,000 people across Gaza.
Islamic minister Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed confirmed the success of this aid project, stating that the assistance had reached the people of Gaza.
“This is the first time the ministry is helping people in need abroad,” Shaheem noted in a message shared on X (formerly Twitter).
This effort is part of a broader commitment by the Zakat House to support the Palestinian people. On the 27th of last month, the organisation announced its decision to donate $100,000 for this cause.
In addition to the Zakat House’s contributions, the Maldivian government has launched a nationwide fundraising campaign, including a telethon, to further aid Palestinians in need.
