Police say mass-casualty terror plot foiled
Acting on a tip-off about the attack, a joint operation was launched by the army and police.

Police have foiled a terror attack that was being carried out using explosives to kill many people, and have arrested 14 people.
At a press conference held at police headquarters on Monday, police said the attack was planned for Friday by a group of ISIS sympathisers in Maldives. The police are yet to ascertain where the attack was planned.
Acting on a tip-off about the plan, a joint operation was launched by the army and police.

The operation was carried out in Male and Addu, as well as in K. Guraidhoo

A total of 14 people were arrested in connection with the planned terror attack

These include 10 people from Addu, two from Male and two from Guraidhoo

Those arrested were all men above the age of 18, and all from Addu

Nine of them were earlier arrested in a terror related sedition case

During the raid, 11 houses in Addu and four in Male were raided
Police inspector Uswat Ahmed said all the arrested have been remanded into police custody.
