Ramadan begins in Maldives on Saturday
The minister urged the public to observe the obligations of Ramadan and engage in good deeds.

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced that the first day of Ramadan in the Maldives will be on Saturday.
The announcement was made at a ceremony held at the Islamic Centre on Friday night.

Islamic Minister Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed stated that the moon for Ramadan had been sighted in some Islamic countries after sunset. Based on this, it was confirmed that Saturday would mark the beginning of the month of fasting.
