Customs have seized a shipment of Methorphan, a drug that has not been seized in the Maldives before.
In a statement, Customs said the consignment was seized from a parcel brought via a courier service.
According to the statement:

The parcel was brought to the country from Bahrain

The parcel was searched on October 17

Contents of the parcel tested positive for Methorphan

It weighed 600 grams
The consignment has been handed over to the police, Customs said.
Methorphan comes in two isomeric forms, each with differing pharmacology and effects:

Dextromethorphan - An over-the-counter cough suppressant, as well as dissociative hallucinogen

Levomethorphan - A potent opioid analgesic that was never clinically developed; a prodrug of the powerful opioid agonist analgesic levorphanol (Levo-Dromoran)
