Henveiru ferry terminal has been opened for ferries from the atolls.

The decision follows concerns over congestion at the existing jetty used for speedboat departures.

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) announced that seven companies have expressed interest in operating ferry services to the MTCC ferry terminals. The services will cover Baa Atoll, Alif Dhaalu Atoll, and Kaafu Atoll.

Terminal operations and capacity:

  • Henveiru ferry terminal is expected to accommodate up to 15 speedboat ferries per day, transporting approximately 2,000 passengers.

  • The terminal can accommodate five speedboats at a time.

  • Each vessel will have 30 minutes to dock at the terminal.

  • Facilities include waiting areas, restrooms, and drinking water for passengers.

The Hulhumale terminal remains unused, with no requests received for docking at the location.
