The Maldives Police Service on Friday launched an investigation into allegations that some immigration officers have abused their positions for financial gain from foreign workers.
In a statement, the police confirmed that a special operation was carried out early Friday morning, during which a house was searched.
According to the police:

Three individuals were arrested during the operation.

The investigation comes just as President Mohamed Muizzu removed Mohamed Shamaan Waheed from Controller General of Immigration and appointed former Police Commissioner Ahmed Faseeh as the replacement.
