A man who was reported missing from Male on 11th of this month has been arrested in connection with a drug-related case.

The Maldives Police Service had announced that Abdulla Shihad, a resident from N. Manadhoo, was missing. His family last had contact with him on 8th of this month.

Shihad was arrested and remanded in custody for 10 days. According to his arrest warrant, he is accused of smuggling drugs into the Maldives.

Authorities have not disclosed whether he was arrested within the country or abroad. The court ordered his detention, stating that he posed a potential threat to public safety.
