BML hikes debit card dollar limit for Hajj pilgrims, president says
This adjustment follows a similar measure taken during Ramadan for Umrah pilgrims, when BML raised the limit to USD 1,500 in addition to the standard USD 250.
The Bank of Maldives (BML) has raised the dollar transaction limit on debit cards to support Maldivian Hajj pilgrims in obtaining foreign currency at the official exchange rate, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced on Monday.
In a statement shared on X, the President said the bank has set a new limit of USD 1,750 in addition to the standard USD 250 available for debit card usage, allowing pilgrims to access up to USD 2,000 through their BML debit cards.
This adjustment follows a similar measure taken during Ramadan for Umrah pilgrims, when BML raised the limit to USD 1,500 in addition to the standard USD 250.
The President expressed appreciation to BML for facilitating access to foreign currency for pilgrims through the official banking system.
