Ex-Gaddhoo MP Rasheed dies

Rasheed’s political career included involvement in party leadership roles and community development efforts during his tenure as an MP.

Ahmed Rasheed, former Member of Parliament for Gaddhoo constituency, passed away Tuesday at the age of 68.

Rasheed served as a member of the 18th Parliament and was previously affiliated with the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and later the People’s National Congress (PNC).

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu extended condolences to Rasheed’s family. In a message shared on social media, President Muizzu referred to Rasheed as a colleague with whom he had worked on various political activities. He prayed for Rasheed’s forgiveness and for peace upon his soul.

Gaddhoo MP Mohamed Ali also expressed condolences. In a post on X, he said he was saddened by the news and acknowledged Rasheed’s contributions to the constituencies of Gaddhoo and Vadu.
