Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in the Maldives on Friday for a two-day state visit, held a series of meetings with representatives of several Maldivian political parties, including the main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
Modi met separately with MDP Chairman Fayyaz Ismail and Party President Abdulla Shahid. The meeting focused on political dialogue between India and the Maldives, according to Modi’s post on X following the discussions.
In addition to the MDP, Modi also held meetings with leaders of other political parties. These included Gasim Ibrahim, Leader of the Jumhooree Party and Member of Parliament for Maamigili Constituency; Mohamed Nazim, President of the Maldives National Party (MNP); and Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, President of the Maldives Development Alliance (MDA).

On Saturday, Prime Minister Modi also met with Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla, Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef, and former President Mohamed Nasheed in separate meetings.
