Man fatally stabbed in Maavah following altercation

A 29-year-old man was killed in a stabbing incident on L. Maavah island on Monday.
The victim, identified by police as Moosa Ibrahim of Nalahiya, Maavah, was injured during a fight reported to authorities at approximately 10:00 a.m. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
According to police, the incident involved a confrontation between two individuals. A resident of Maavah said the altercation occurred in the morning and that Moosa Ibrahim sustained a stab wound to the neck.
Police identified the second individual involved in the fight as Mohamed Ibrahim, 29, of Asri Manzil, HDh. Nolhivaranfaru. He is now in police custody.
Residents of the island said both men were known to be involved in criminal activity. Mohamed Ibrahim reportedly moved to Maavah after marrying a local woman. Although the couple is now divorced, he is said to visit the island occasionally.
An investigation is ongoing.
