Govt awards MVR 842 million contracts for road works in 11 islands

The government has allocated MVR 842 million for road construction projects in 11 islands across various atolls, with the work awarded to the Road Development Corporation (RDC).

According to the Ministry of Construction, the agreement for the projects was signed between the ministry and RDC. The ceremony was attended by some members of the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee representing the constituencies where the projects will take place.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the ministry by State Minister Hassan Rasheed and on behalf of RDC by Managing Director Ibrahim Nazim.

The islands and allocated amounts are as follows:

    Haa Alifu Thuraakunu – MVR 65.5 million

  • 2-

    Haa Dhaalu Nolhivaramfaru – MVR 101.2 million

  • 3-

    Haa Dhaalu Finey – MVR 65.6 million

  • 4-

    Shaviyani Maroshi – MVR 60.2 million

  • 5-

    Noonu Maafaru – MVR 116 million

  • 6-

    Baa Thulhaadhoo – MVR 80 million

  • 7-

    Baa Kudarikilu – MVR 53.5 million

  • 8-

    Meemu Muli – MVR 85 million

  • 9-

    Thaa Guraidhoo – MVR 74.5 million

  • 10-

    Thaa Hirilandhoo – MVR 70.5 million

  • 11-

    Thaa Kinbidhoo – MVR 80 million

The total cost for the road construction in the 11 islands is MVR 842 million.
