Survey work awarded for Villimale roads development
The minister said the cost of the road development would be determined after assessing the condition of the roads.

The Road Development Corporation (RDC) has been tasked to conduct the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and other preliminary surveys for the Villimale road development project.
The contract for the work was signed by the Minister Dr Abdullah Muthalib on behalf of the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure at a ceremony held at the Voice of Maldives on Thursday. Brigadier General (retd) Ali Zuhair, Managing Director, signed on behalf of the RDC.
Speaking on the agreement, Minister Muthalib said the government has given priority to the development of roads in Villimale.
“It is a pedestrianised island and the island has not done proper topographic surveys. The first step is to sign for the topographical surveys, geo-technical, hydrographical surveys and EIA,” Muthalib said.
The minister said the cost of the road development would be determined after assessing the condition of the roads.

The topographic survey, detail design and EIA of the work was awarded to RDC for MVR 1.79 million

Work will be completed and handed over within 120 days (4 months) as per the contract

The project will cover 5.6 km of road
The minister said the road construction work will be done with the input of the people and when the work is completed, the roads in Villimale will be improved and the drainage system will be installed.
Survey work is also underway to upgrade the water, sewerage and electricity network in Villimale.
