A Maldivian national has been arrested in Malaysia on multiple charges, including sexual offences and drug-related crimes.
Malaysian authorities confirmed the arrest of Abdul Bathin Mohamed Musthafa, who is reportedly facing charges of rape, domestic violence, producing and distributing explicit material, and drug trafficking.
The Maldives Police Service said on Saturday that the arrest was carried out in connection with an investigation being conducted by Malaysian police.
In addition to the charges in Malaysia, the Maldives Police Service confirmed that it is also investigating a separate domestic violence case against him.
