Presidential Spokesperson Heena Waleed on Friday said Members of Parliament do not need to submit questions in advance for President Mohamed Muizzu’s meetings with the public.
Her comments follow media reports claiming that the President had asked PNC MPs not to share questions they intended to raise during public meetings. According to a PNC MP quoted in those reports, the President sent a message to the parliamentary WhatsApp group after learning that an MP had asked a constituency group to provide a question for him to raise at an upcoming meeting.
In a social media post on Friday, Heena said some people had suggested that questions or ideas should be submitted ahead of the meetings in order to gather public views and feedback.
She said that, as in previous public meetings, the President allows participants to express their views and concerns without restriction, and that this approach would continue.
“The same rule will be followed in future meetings. No one will have to share any immediate questions or ideas with anyone,” she said.
