Govt political appointee among 4 held in anti-drug operation
Police said all four suspects are from GA. Villingili and are aged between 28 and 35.
The Maldives Police Service has released the identities of four men arrested on Sunday under Operation Alimagu, an ongoing anti-drug operation. Police confirmed that one of those arrested holds a political position in the current government.
Operation Alimagu, which was launched in November to target drug trafficking, was carried out in islands of Gaafu Alif Atoll and the Malé region.
Police said all four suspects are from GA. Villingili and are aged between 28 and 35.
The political appointee was identified as Ahmed Anam Ibrahim, 30, of Aizan, GA. Villingili. He serves as Senior Political Director at the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

All four were produced before the court for a remand hearing. Police said Noorul Nizam was remanded in custody for 15 days, while the other three, including Ahmed Anam Ibrahim, were ordered to remain in custody pending further proceedings.
