Police said the measure is intended to make parking available for people visiting mosques, particularly during evening prayers.

Police have requested the removal of vehicles parked for extended periods near mosques in Hulhumalé to ease access for worshippers during Ramadan.

In a post shared on social media on Wednesday, the Maldives Police Service said owners of vehicles parked for long durations in areas surrounding mosques are being asked to relocate them.

Police said the measure is intended to make parking available for people visiting mosques, particularly during evening prayers.

During Ramadan, mosques attract increased numbers of worshippers, especially for Taraweeh prayers. Police noted that some mosques have limited parking nearby, which results in vehicles being parked at a distance.
