Athif retains Kulhudhuffushi mayor seat
His opponent, Ibrahim Hassan of the People’s National Congress (PNC), received around 32 per cent of the vote, or nearly 1,200 votes.
Incumbent Mayor of Kulhudhuffushi City, Mohamed Athif, has been re-elected following Saturday’s council elections.
Athif, representing the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), secured a second term based on provisional results.
According to figures released from the count, Athif received approximately 68 per cent of the vote, amounting to over 2,500 votes.
His opponent, Ibrahim Hassan of the People’s National Congress (PNC), received around 32 per cent of the vote, or nearly 1,200 votes.
The results remain provisional pending the completion of the count.
