Adam Naseer Ibrahim resigns as Dhivehi language minister

The President’s Office said the resignations were submitted to facilitate institutional changes and align the administration with public expectations.

Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage Adam Naseer Ibrahim resigned from his post on Tuesday.

His resignation follows a request by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu for cabinet members to step down after the recent elections. Adam Naseer is the tenth minister to resign on the same day.

In a statement, the President’s Office said the resignations were submitted to facilitate institutional changes and align the administration with public expectations. President Muizzu thanked the outgoing ministers for their service.

The ministers who resigned on Tuesday are Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel, Minister of Defence Ghassan Maumoon, Minister of Social and Family Development Dr Aishath Shiham, Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, Minister of Agriculture and Animal Welfare Dr Mariyam Mariya, Minister of Tourism and Environment Thoriq Ibrahim, Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage Adam Naseer Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Ibrahim Waheed, Minister of Higher Education Dr Ali Haidar Ahmed, and Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar.
