The Maldives Police Service has arrested a man in connection with an alleged case of sexual abuse involving a minor in the North Central Police Division.
Police said the case was reported on 27 April.
According to authorities, a 32-year-old Maldivian man was taken into custody on Wednesday in connection with the investigation.
Police stated that the case is being investigated in coordination with other relevant state institutions.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the identity of the victim or the location of the incident in order to protect the privacy of the minor involved.
The police said the investigation remains ongoing.
