Judges' photos unavailable on JSC website for over a month

The removal of the photographs follows social media posts in which users criticised court decisions and shared photographs of the judges.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has removed the photographs of judges from its website for more than a month, with the commission stating that the page is unavailable due to ongoing website upgrades.

The section of the JSC website previously displayed the names, designations and photographs of judges serving in the Supreme Court, High Court, superior courts and magistrates' courts. It also included a search function that allowed users to locate judges by name.

The page now contains only a spreadsheet listing the names of judges, their positions and the courts in which they serve.

Responding to questions from Dhauru, a JSC official said the page had been taken offline temporarily as part of work to upgrade the commission's website.

The official did not provide a timeframe for when the page would be restored.

The removal of the photographs follows social media posts in which users criticised court decisions and shared photographs of the judges concerned that had been obtained from the JSC website.

The commission has not stated whether the removal of the photographs is related to those social media posts.
