Yazmeed Mohamed, the presidential appointee to the Judicial Service Commission, resigned from his post on Monday.
Sources confirmed the resignation to Dhauru, although the reasons for his decision were not disclosed.
Yazmeed was appointed to the commission in February last year, replacing Mohamed Sameer, who previously served in both the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Attorney General’s Office.
In October, Yazmeed was appointed Vice President of the JSC following the resignation of Mohamed Niyaz, a High Court judge who had previously held the position.
Yazmeed also contested the most recent parliamentary elections under the coalition of the Progressive Party of Maldives and the People's National Congress.
Before joining the JSC, he served as a member of the Anti-Corruption Commission during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
According to available information, Yazmeed did not previously work within the judicial sector before his appointment to the commission.
