Young man dies while anchoring buoy at sea

A young man died on Monday while trying to anchor a buoy in the sea near ADh. Maafushivaru Resort.
The deceased has been identified as Nishah Abdul Ghafoor, 18, a resident of R. Inguraidhoo, who was working at the dive centre of Maafushivaru Resort.
Soon after the incident, the young man was taken to the atoll hospital in Mahibadhoo. A hospital official said the youth did not have a pulse when he was brought to the hospital around 5.40 pm.
Police said in a message to the media on Monday evening:

Police received a call around 6.54 am that a man who was trying to anchor a buoy near the resort was being taken to a hospital after his condition deteriorated

He was taken to Mahibadhoo Hospital where he was declared dead during emergency treatment
"Further investigation into the incident is underway," the police said in a statement.
Citing the doctors at the Alifu Dhaalu atoll hospital, a hospital official told Atoll Times this evening that doctors worked for an hour to get a pulse from the drowned youth.
"There was no pulse when he was brought to the hospital even. The doctors tried hard. The doctor even informed his helpers that they tried to get a pulse and it did not work," the official said.
"He was treated like those brought in such circumstances, as per the protocol for treatment and worked for over an hour on him."
