Former Vice President of R. Rasgetheem Island Council, Mohamed Ibrahim, passed away on Wednesday after being hit by the propeller of a liveaboard vessel in R. Inguraidhoo lagoon.
Mohamed Ibrahim, 55, who served as vice president of the Rasgetheem council in the last term, passed away at 5:30pm on Wednesday. Mohamed died after he hit the propeller of the liveaboard vessel that he was a crewman in while trying to dock it in the Inguraidhoo lagoon.
President of Inguraidhoo Council, Mohamed Jaleel, told Atoll Times Wednesday evening that Mohamed Ibrahim had died while he had attempted to unravel a rope that had gotten entwined on the propeller.
-
The propeller was not cut off when he dived in to the sea
-
He was already dead when he was pulled out of the sea
-
The blade cut through his scalp
-
He was taken to Inguraidhoo Health Centre at 5:50 pm.
While the police have launched an investigation into the matter, some of Mohamed's family members are currently in Inguraidhoo. They want, as it is known, that Mohammed's last rites should be held as soon as possible after respects are paid to him.
