Owner of Madifushi Private Island resort which opened last month has been fined for coastal protection works without the necessary approvals,
The resort, developed by Maldives Inflight Catering Company which is owned by MACL and Singapore's Changi Airport services company, was opened last month.
Environment Protection Agency (EPA) said in an announcement:

Coastal protection and beach nourishment of Madifushi such as sand mining to protect the coast was carried out without any Environment Impact Assessment (EIA)
