MDP wins Vaikaradhoo council by-election
In addition to electing a female member of the council, by-elections to the women's development committee were also held.

MDP has won the by-election held on Saturday to elect a candidate to the post of female member of Vaikaradhoo Council.
Two by-elections were held in Vaikaradhoo on Saturday. It was held following the resignation of the female MP in the island council and the election to elect a candidate to the vacant seat in the women's development committee of the island
Fathimath Shijuna of MDP and Fathimath Nazla of Adhaalath Party contested the election held after the resignation of the councillor. The MDP candidate won the election by a margin of 25 votes.
