Maldives pres attends King Charles coronation

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih andFirst Lady Fazna Ahmed on Saturday attended the coronation of Britain's King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

The coronation service was held at Westminster Abbey, London, with more than 2,200 guests in attendance. Invitees included members of the royal family and international representatives from 203 countries. Approximately 100 heads of state, alongside community and charity champions, were included.

The grand procession of King Charles III and Queen Camilla to Westminster Abbey began from Buckingham Palace in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach.

King Charles III, formerly the Prince of Wales, was born in 1948 and became heir apparent on the accession of Queen Elizabeth II in 1952. Upon the demise of Queen Elizabeth II on 8 September 2022, Charles immediately acceded to the throne.

Following the crowning and enthronement of King Charles, Queen Camilla, formerly The Duchess of Cornwall, was also crowned and enthroned.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed are currently on an official visit to the UK to attend the coronation ceremony.
