In view of the frequent number of fatal accidents in Hulhumale in the recent past, Urbanco has started installing dividers on major roads in the neighbourhood and installing lights for the convenience of pedestrians.
There have been several accidents in Hulhumale in the past few weeks in which lives were lost and some people seriously injured.
Urbanco said in a statement on Monday that it has begun working on a comprehensive plan in coordination with relevant authorities for the safety of motorists and pedestrians.
Here are some of the things Urbanco plans to do:
-
Installing dividers on major roads; the main purpose of this is to reduce head-on-collisions and to encourage those taking u-turns to do so as per rules
-
Signboards indicating the presence of dividers will also be put up
-
Installing pedestrian crossing lights; lights are being installed and testing is underway at two locations in Hulhumale
