President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said on Sunday that the salaries of all government employees would have been increased if Covid-19 pandemic did not happen.
A special ceremony was held on Sunday evening to celebrate the development projects in Addu.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Solih said that he came to Addu in 2018 with an island manifesto. The president said that Addu today shows what the people of Addu wanted to see.
President Solih said his government got only three years to execute projects as two years were lost to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"If Covid had not confronted us, today we would have made major changes in the salaries of all the people in the government," he said.
