JP, MNP in coalition talks
President invited the two parties to form a coalition with the MDP for the upcoming presidential election, but they have rejected the offer.

MNP president, Dhangethi MP Mohamed Nazim, and Jumhooree Party (JP) presidential candidate Gasim Ibrahim held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss forming an alliance for the upcoming presidential election.
MNP vice-presidents Ahmed Usham and Abdullah Riyaz also attended the meeting.
After the meeting, Gasim told reporters that the main topics discussed were:

"The talks were very successful. They gave us hope. With that, we will continue to meet and keep the people informed of the continuous meetings," he said.
Usham, who spoke on behalf of the MNP, said the meeting was very positive.
“We believe that we can come up with a good formula for the two parties to work together in the upcoming presidential election,” the Villimale MP said.
President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih invited the two parties to form a coalition with the MDP for the upcoming presidential election, but they have rejected the offer.
