Ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is set to participate in the annual conference of the UK's ruling Conservative Party.
MDP is represented at the biggest political event in Europe by the party's two deputy chairpersons, Hulhumale MP Ali Niyaz and Baarah MP Ahmed Abdulla.
They arrived in the UK yesterday to participate in the event, which will be held in Birmingham from Sunday to Monday.
Niyaz told Atoll Times on Saturday that MDP is the only Maldivian political party to have been invited to the Tory conference.
"This shows that the relationship between the Conservative Party and MDP remains in tandem. And the relationship will continue to strengthen in the future," said Niyaz.
The Conservative Party has assisted in the formation of MDP in the early 2000s and in the formulation of the party's policies. MDP has participated in Conservative Party conferences in the past.
