President-elect Dr Mohamed Muizzu said on Wednesday that some projects in islands are being stopped and machinery is being unloaded, but he has not asked to do so.
After the final results of the presidential election, the Privatisation and Corporatization Board (PCB) issued a circular on October 5 asking state-owned companies not to do five main things, including not to start new projects. The office of the president-elect has also asked companies not to do 10 things.
Amid concerns and confusions over the directives, Muizzu said he has not ordered any project to be stopped or suspended. He said no one would issue such a notice on his behalf.
"I would like to reassure the people in connection with the false allegations that work is being stopped and machinery is being unloaded in some islands not because of my instructions," Muizzu said in a post on X.
