Male mayor by-election on January 13
Candidacy will be accepted until December 13, the commission said.
The Elections Commission has decided to hold the by-election for the mayor of the Male on January 13.
The post of mayor of the city became vacant after Dr Mohamed Muizzu resigned on November 17 to be sworn in as president.
In addition to President Muizzu, three other members of the city council also resigned to take up government posts. They are:

Fathimath Shamnaz
The by-election for the vacant council seats will also be held on January 13.
Candidacy will be accepted until December 13, the commission said.
Many have already expressed interest in becoming the mayor of the city. They include:
