President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Thursday presented the Order of the Dignified Rule of Muleege Dynasty (ODRMD), the highest civilian order conferred by the Maldives state, to health minister Ahmed Naseem.

He was presented with the laurels at the official ceremony held at Dharubaaruge to confer this year’s National Awards.

The Order of the Dignified Rule of Muleege Dynasty commemorates the rule of Al-Sultan Muhammed Shamsuddin.

The president made the decision to honour Naseem in order to recognise his national contributions to the government over a period of more than 37-years, as well as his role as one of the pioneers of the Maldives tourism industry during a precarious and uncertain time.

At the ceremony, the resident stated that he believes that Naseem's contributions and services to the country should be recognised and celebrated at a national level.
