The reclamation of 150 hectares of land, a project begun by the previous government via Boskalis as part of the Gulhi lagoon reclamation project was completed on Monday.
Construction and Infrastructure Minister Abdullah Muthalib wrote in X on Tuesday that 150 hectares of land has been dredged by acquiring 18 million cubic metres of sand, and the beach protection work is now underway.
The additional 85-hectare project to be dredged by the government is also underway, he said.

Practical work began on July 2 last year

The work was awarded to Boskalis of the Netherlands for a total of USD 130.4 million (MVR 2.01 billion)
