The first major examination for Maldivian students, taken after 10 years of schooling; the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Cambridge’s Ordinary Level examinations started on Thursday, with 7,501 students taking the exams this year.
The examination will continue till June 13, the Ministry of Education said.
Islam was the first subject in the examination on Thursday. The examination is being conducted at 256 centres across the country.
This year's O/L examination:

7,501 students participated, up from 6,698 last year. This is an increase of 803 students

7,133 students will sit for the SSC examination this year
The O’ Level examinations have always been the most important assessment of education in Maldives.
