Statistics have shown that 19% of the population of Maldives is unemployed.
According to the report published by the National Bureau of Statistics on the occasion of World Population Day, the population of young people aged 15 to 24 in Maldives is 53,537. Thus:

27,625 males

25,912 females

More than half of these young people live in the atolls
As per the statistics, one in every five people in Maldives is neither employed nor studying. That makes 19% of the total population, which is also 10,414 young people, to be exact. Out of which:

22% are females
