South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Secretary General MD Golam Sarwar arrived in Maldives on Sunday.
This is in line with Sarwar's introduction after assuming office in October.
Regarding the visit of the 15th SAARC Secretary General, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement:

Sarwar will pay a courtesy call on President Mohamed Muizzu

He is also scheduled to meet Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer and Foreign Secretary Fathmath Inaya

SAARC consists of eight South Asian countries including Maldives. The headquarters of the association was established on 17 January 1987 in Kathmandu, Nepal. Former Attorney General Dhiyana Saeed was the first woman Secretary General of the association. Ahmed Saleem and former minister Ibrahim Hussain Zaki have also held senior positions in SAARC.
