A long-running fever has been spreading in capital Male.
After rainy days, the weather lifts up, but infectious diseases and viral fevers are spreading in Male.
Doctors say that a long-running fever is spreading.
A doctor who spoke to Atoll Times said that despite the symptoms of ordinary viral fever, the biggest problem in the fever is that it does not improve for a long time.
"In some cases fever doesn’t get better for three weeks even, which leads to severe dehydration,” the doctor said.
He also said the disease is most easily infected in children.
Symptoms of the disease include high fever, body aches and vomiting.
If a person has a fever, the doctor advises to take as much liquid as possible.
A doctor consultation is advised if the fever does not get any better and it continues for a long time.
The doctor advised not to take children out often in crowded places.
There are three types of fevers commonly found in Maldives. They are influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and dengue fever.
This is the rainy season and the spread of mosquito-borne disease, dengue fever in islands has increased dramatically during this period.
