Male city council and police on Saturday began removing abandoned vehicles from the streets of Male.
Starting at 8am Saturday, tow trucks have been deployed across various roads of Male, targeting vehicles that have been left unused for long periods.

Council spokesperson Aminath Shathfa Shafeeu said the vehicles that are to be towed are selected by the police, and the council’s role is to assist the agency in carrying out the process.
She also said that once a vehicle is towed, its owner will be notified in accordance with established rules and regulations.
