Fenaka apologises for MVR 400,000 bill error on vacant house
The error, which sparked criticism, highlighted concerns over the accuracy of utility billing processes.
Residents of Sh. Komandoo took to social media on Wednesday to voice their frustrations after an electricity bill was mistakenly issued for an uninhabited house on the island.
The bill in question, amounting to MVR 412,600, was widely shared online, with islanders questioning how such a mistake could occur for a property that is not in use. The issue gained traction, prompting a response from Fenaka Corporation on their official Facebook page.
Fenaka clarified that the mistake was due to an error in the reading of a newly installed electricity meter. They stated that the issue had been identified and rectified, and the correct bill was subsequently issued to the customer.
However, the company did not provide further details about the incident or the steps being taken to prevent similar errors in the future.
