Defence state minister Muaz Haleem has been appointed as the Secretary General of the ruling Progressive National Congress (PNC).
The position had remained vacant for 13 days.
Senior PNC officials confirmed Haleem's appointment on Monday. The post became vacant after the term of Local Government Minister Adam Shareef’s wife, Zeenaz Adnan, ended last month.
Meanwhile, the PNC has recently seen notable additions to its membership, including MDP MP Hussain Ziyad and former Heritage Ministry State Minister and former Manadhoo MP Mohamed Thoriq.
The PNC has not issued an official statement regarding Haleem's appointment or the recent membership developments.
