The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has appointed Justice Ahmed Faisal as the Chief Justice of the High Court.
The decision was made at the JSC meeting held on the 19th of last month.
Faisal had been serving as Acting Chief Justice following the transfer of Justice Hussain Shaheed to the Supreme Court.
Faisal was appointed as a judge of the High Court on 24 July 2018.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sharia Law from the College of Islamic Studies. His professional career in the legal field began in 2012. Prior to his appointment to the bench, he worked as a lawyer at SMNS Equity Chamber.
Faisal has also served on the Judicial Service Commission. He was appointed to the Commission on 22 May and held the position of Vice-President until his appointment as a High Court judge on 13 July of the same year.
