China's new ambassador to Maldives Kong Xianhua presented his letters of credence to the President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
The ceremony was held Monday morning at the President's Office.
The ambassador was escorted to the President’s Office from Republic Square in a cultural procession accompanied by MNDF Drum and Trumpet Band.
Following the presentation of his credentials, the President welcomed the ambassador to the Maldives and discussed matters of mutual interest.
The ambassador assured President Muizzu of China's support for the Maldives' urgent needs, highlighting the strong ties and the special significance the Maldives holds for Chinese President Xi Jinping.
